Welsh Language Policy

Background

Ecom has adopted the principle that it will treat the Welsh and English languages on the basis of equality and that this is reflected in the way our corporate duties are carried out.

Collaborative Activities

In order to strengthen our provision of Welsh language for all our services, Ecom will continue to work with other organisations.

Ecom has worked with Ufi Cymru, who in turn are working with the basic skills agency via Skilliaith; DCELLS Bilingual unit, Acen and the Welsh Language Board to support the Welsh language development.

Ecom’s relationships with these stakeholders will be important in stabilising and strengthening our bilingual capacity in the coming years. Ecom has established a Welsh language forum to:

• Ensure Ecom’s range of language materials are appropriate
• Review the effect of Ecom’s policies on the Welsh language
• Market the use of Ecom’s Welsh language material
• Encourage Welsh speakers to use Welsh through appropriate courses, materials and correspondence
